Between the Atlantic and the Imperial Medinas

A circular itinerary through some of Morocco’s most beautiful cities: from the Atlantic coast of Tangier and Asilah to the minarets of Fez and the spices of Marrakech, passing through Roman archaeological sites and blue medinas nestled in the peaceful mountain landscapes.

DAY 1

Tangier – Asilah

Arrival at the port/airport in Tangier, a city with a cosmopolitan past, followed by departure towards Asilah, a charming seaside town on the Atlantic coast. Founded by the Phoenicians around 1500 BC, Asilah has the appearance of a town on the Aegean Sea: whitewashed houses, flower-lined streets and fortified walls of Portuguese origin. Walk through ancient gates, bastions, art galleries and a medina decorated with murals. The town is also famous for its golden beaches.

Dinner at your leisure. Overnight stay in a riad.

DAY 2

Asilah – Rabat – Casablanca

After breakfast, departure from Asilah towards Rabat. Rabat, the capital of Morocco, is a modern city overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Elegant and regal, Rabat combines history with colonial architecture. Recommended visits include the Hassan Tower, the unfinished minaret of a 12th-century mosque, and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, where King Hassan II and Prince Moulay Abdallah are also buried. Rabat’s historic medina is fascinating, with cobbled alleys, local handicrafts and art galleries. The journey then continues towards Casablanca, with arrival in the evening.

Dinner at your leisure. Overnight stay in a hotel.

DAY 3

Casablanca – Marrakech

Casablanca is the economic capital of Morocco, where most of the country’s international trade is managed. The city is located on the western coast and resembles a major urban centre in Southern Europe. The modern city began to develop in 1906 on the site of an ancient Berber settlement dating back to the 7th century, which was destroyed by an earthquake in the second half of the 18th century. Outside the medina lies the district built by the French, the Nouvelle Ville, with its gardens and boulevards, shopping centres, hotels, banks and shops. The city’s most important landmark is the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world. After breakfast, departure from the hotel to visit the Hassan II Mosque. The journey then continues in the morning, with arrival in Marrakech in the afternoon.

Dinner at your leisure. Overnight stay in a hotel.

DAY 4

Guided Tour of Marrakech

Guided tour of vibrant Marrakech, known as the “Pearl of the South”. You will discover the Bahia Palace, El Badi Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the Ben Youssef Madrasa, the Koutoubia Mosque, the Menara and Majorelle Gardens, and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum. Free time for lunch in the lively Jemaa el-Fna Square, the heart of the city, with musicians, snake charmers and street vendors.

Dinner at your leisure. Overnight stay in a riad.

DAY 5

Marrakech – Meknes – Fez

After breakfast, departure north with a stop in Meknes, known as the “Versailles of Morocco”. A short visit to the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, the majestic Bab Mansour Gate and the traditional souks of the medina. Arrival in Fez in the evening, a city renowned as a centre of Islamic spirituality and learning.

Dinner and overnight stay in a riad.

DAY 6

Guided Tour of Fès

The day is dedicated to discovering Fez, the cultural heart of Morocco. With an official guide, you will explore the medieval Medina (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), with stops at the Bou Inania Madrasa, the Al Quaraouiyine Mosque, the Al Attarine Madrasa, the Nejjarine Fountain, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss. You will also visit the traditional tanneries, a ceramic workshop, and enjoy a panoramic view from the Merenid Tombs. The tour also includes a walk through the Ville Nouvelle and the Imperial City.

Dinner and overnight stay in a riad.

DAY 7

Fez – Volubilis – Chefchaouen

After breakfast, departure for Volubilis, an important Roman archaeological site featuring well-preserved mosaics, columns and the remains of ancient villas. The journey continues to Chefchaouen, a city nestled in the Rif Mountains, famous for its blue-painted streets. Walk through Outa-el-Hammam Square, surrounded by fortresses, Andalusian mosques and art markets.

Dinner at your leisure. Overnight stay in a riad.

DAY 8

Chefchaouen – Tangier

After breakfast, departure for Tangier, once again crossing the hilly landscapes of the Rif Mountains. Upon arrival, transfer to the port/airport for your return journey.
