Casablanca, Marrakech and the Merzouga Desert

A perfect 5-day journey for those who want to travel across Morocco from the coast to the desert, passing through the imperial cities, the kasbahs of southern Morocco, the Berber valleys and the golden dunes of Merzouga. A complete tour combining history, landscapes and tradition.

DAY 1

Casablanca – Marrakech

After breakfast in Casablanca, departure towards Marrakech, approximately a three-hour drive away. The day is dedicated to a guided tour of the city, one of Morocco’s four Imperial Cities, known as the “Pearl of the South” or the “Red City” because of the distinctive colour of its walls. With an official guide, you will visit historic landmarks such as the Bahia Palace, El Badi Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the Ben Youssef Madrasa, the Menara Gardens and the Koutoubia Mosque. After a lunch break near Jemaa el-Fna, the tour continues to the Majorelle Garden, with an optional visit to the Yves Saint Laurent Museum.

Dinner at your leisure. Overnight stay in a riad.

DAY 2

Marrakech – Ait-Ben-Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dadès Valley

After breakfast, departure towards the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the famous Tizi n’Tichka at 2,260 metres. You will reach the impressive Ait-Ben-Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an iconic location in international cinema. After a visit, the journey continues to Ouarzazate, which developed as a French military centre and is now home to the Atlas Film Studios, known as the Hollywood of Morocco. You will then cross the Valley of Roses, famous for the Damask rose, before reaching the Dadès Valley, known for its rocky gorges and picture-perfect landscapes.

DAY 3

Dadès Valley – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga

After breakfast, you will visit the spectacular Todra Gorges, with their vertical rock walls, ideal for walks and photography. The journey continues towards Erfoud, a town famous for the craftsmanship of marine fossils, where ancient fossil remains are transformed into decorative objects and works of art. In the afternoon, you will arrive in Merzouga, the gateway to Erg Chebbi. Shortly before sunset, you will set off by camel towards the Berber desert camp, crossing the golden dunes. After a traditional dinner under the stars, you will enjoy a performance of live Berber music.

DAY 4

Merzouga – Rissani – Draa Valley – Marrakech

Wake up at dawn to watch the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast at the camp, departure towards Rissani, an ancient caravan town known for its lively traditional market. The journey continues through the Draa Valley, a long green corridor of palm groves and kasbahs, before heading back through the High Atlas Mountains. Arrival in Marrakech in the evening.

DAY 5

Guided Tour of Marrakech – Casablanca

After breakfast, the morning is dedicated to a guided tour of Marrakech, also known as the “Red City” or the “Pearl of the South”. Main stops include the Bahia Palace, El Badi Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the Ben Youssef Madrasa, the Koutoubia Mosque, the Menara Gardens and the Majorelle Garden, with an optional visit to the Yves Saint Laurent Museum. Free time for tea on a terrace overlooking Jemaa el-Fna, the vibrant heart of the city. In the early afternoon, departure for Casablanca, Morocco’s economic capital and a major hub for international trade. Modern and cosmopolitan, the city is partly built on the site of an ancient Berber settlement destroyed by an earthquake in the 18th century. You will pass through the Nouvelle Ville, designed by the French and characterized by gardens, elegant boulevards, shops and cafés. The city’s most iconic landmark is the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world, built partly over the Atlantic Ocean. Arrival at the hotel in the evening.
