This 4-day tour from Marrakech to Merzouga and back offers an immersive journey through the landscapes, history and traditions of southern Morocco. From the Atlas Mountains and ancient kasbahs to the Erg Chebbi Desert, local markets and cinematic Ouarzazate, it is a complete experience combining Berber culture and the natural beauty of the Sahara.
DAY 1
Departure after breakfast from your riad in Marrakech, driving along the winding road of the Tizi n’Tichka at 2,260 metres, the highest mountain pass in the Atlas. Through mountain landscapes and Berber villages, you will reach the famous Ait-Ben-Haddou Kasbah, one of Morocco’s most iconic UNESCO World Heritage Sites and a filming location for many international productions. After the visit, the journey continues towards Ouarzazate, which developed during the French colonial period as an administrative centre. The area is home to the Atlas Film Studios, known for major productions such as Gladiator and The Mummy. You will then cross the fragrant Valley of Roses, where the Damask rose is cultivated for the cosmetics industry, before reaching the spectacular Dadès Gorges.

DAY 2
DAY 3
At dawn, you will experience the spectacular sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast at the camp and a camel ride back to Merzouga. The first stop of the day is Rissani, a historic town where you will visit the traditional market, renowned for its authenticity and local products. The journey continues through the lush Draa Valley, one of Morocco’s largest oases, dotted with palm groves and Berber kasbahs. In the afternoon, you will arrive in Ouarzazate, where you will have the opportunity to visit the Atlas Studios independently.

DAY 4
The morning begins with a visit to the Taourirt Kasbah, once a noble residence and now converted into a museum. This remarkable example of earthen architecture was inhabited until the 1930s and preserves beautifully decorated rooms that tell the story of the city. After the visit, departure for the return journey to Marrakech, once again crossing the High Atlas Mountains, with spectacular views and timeless villages along the way. Arrival in Marrakech is expected in the late afternoon, marking the end of the tour after four unforgettable days of desert landscapes, mountains, Moroccan culture and traditions.
