DAY 1
After breakfast, departure from your riad in Marrakech with a private driver/guide. Cross the High Atlas Mountains via the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass, the highest road pass in Morocco at 2,260 meters. Arrival at the stunning Ait-Ben-Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved kasbahs in Morocco. After a short visit, continue to Ouarzazate, developed during the French colonial era and now home to the famous Atlas Film Studios, known as the “Hollywood of Morocco”. Driving through the fragrant Valley of Roses, you will reach the Dadès Valley, renowned for its dramatic rocky gorges. Visit the Dadès Gorges, dinner, and overnight stay in a riad or hotel.
DAY 2
After breakfast, head to the breathtaking Todra Gorges, deep canyons perfect for admiring the rock formations and traditional villages. Continue the journey towards Erfoud, the famed fossil city, known for its abundant prehistoric stone deposits. In the afternoon, arrive in Merzouga, the gateway to the Erg Chebbi dunes, and take a short break at the riad. Before sunset, set off on a camel trek across the golden dunes to reach a Berber desert camp. After dinner under the stars, enjoy a live performance of traditional Berber music. Overnight in a classic haima tent, surrounded by the desert’s serene silence.
DAY 3
A day entirely dedicated to discovering the iconic landscape of Erg Chebbi. After breakfast, embark on a 4×4 desert tour, visiting isolated nomadic families living amid the dunes. Reach Khamlia, a village inhabited by descendants of Mali, Senegal, and Mauritania, where you’ll attend an authentic Gnawa music concert, a cultural treasure of African heritage. Visit the abandoned Mifiss mines, a fascinating glimpse into the desert’s history. In the late afternoon, return to Merzouga and embark on another camel trek at sunset for a second magical night at the desert camp.
DAY 4
Early wake-up to witness the sunrise over the Sahara dunes, followed by breakfast and a refreshing shower back at the riad. Head north through the lush Ziz Valley, dotted with palm groves and oases. Continue to Ifrane, known as the “Little Switzerland of Morocco” for its tidy streets and European-style houses at over 1,700 meters elevation. Make a brief stop in Azrou, where Barbary macaques roam freely in the cedar and oak forests. Arrival in Fès by evening, concluding the tour in one of Morocco’s most historically rich Imperial Cities.
