Fès and Merzouga: Adventure in Southern Morocco

A journey from north to south to explore Morocco in all its shades: from the blue streets of Chefchaouen to the golden sands of the Sahara Desert, from the red-earth kasbahs to the lively medinas. An unforgettable adventure through nature, culture, and authentic Berber traditions.

DAY 1

Tangier – Chefchaouen – Fès

Upon arrival at the port or airport of Tangier, meet your driver/guide and head towards the Rif Mountains. First stop in Chefchaouen, the famous “Blue Pearl of Morocco”. The houses, doors, and streets are all painted in different shades of blue, creating a surreal atmosphere. Brief visit to Outa-el-Hammam Square, the Tarik Ben Ziad Mosque with its octagonal minaret, and the fortified kasbah. Afternoon transfer to Fès, Morocco’s cultural capital. ????️ Dinner and overnight stay in a riad/hotel.

DAY 2

Fès – Ifrane – Azrou – Ziz Valley – Merzouga

After breakfast, departure southward. First stop in Ifrane, known as “Little Switzerland” for its alpine-style architecture. Continue to Azrou, where you can spot Barbary macaques in the cedar forests. The journey continues through the spectacular Ziz Valley, a natural corridor of oases and palm groves. Arrival in the afternoon at Merzouga, gateway to the desert. Before sunset, camel ride across the Erg Chebbi dunes to the Berber tented camp. Traditional dinner and live music under the stars. ????️ Overnight in a haima tent in the desert.

DAY 3

Merzouga – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

Wake up at dawn to witness the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast and a shower, return to Merzouga by camel, then depart for Erfoud, famous for its marine fossils. Continue towards the spectacular Todra Gorges, with towering rock walls reaching up to 300 meters — a paradise for hikers and photographers. Late afternoon arrival in the Dades Valley, known for its winding gorges and traditional kasbahs. ????️ Dinner and overnight stay in a riad/hotel.

DAY 4

Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait-Ben-Haddou – Marrakech

After breakfast, drive along the Valley of Roses, renowned for its Damask rose oil production. Arrive in Ouarzazate, a strategic city and home to the Atlas Studios, filming location for movies like Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator. Continue to the Ait-Ben-Haddou kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a marvel of earthen architecture. Crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 meters), you reach Marrakech in the evening. End of services.
