DAY 1
Depart from Marrakech after breakfast with an experienced driver, crossing the majestic High Atlas Mountains via the panoramic Tizi n’Tichka Pass, the highest road pass in Morocco at 2,260 meters. Amid breathtaking landscapes, you’ll reach the iconic Kasbah of Ait-Ben-Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and famous film set. After a brief visit, continue to Ouarzazate, historically a French military center and now known for the Atlas Film Studios, where movies like Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator were filmed. The journey proceeds through the Valley of Roses, renowned for its cultivation of damask roses and artisanal production of rose essences. Arrive in the Dadès Valley, visiting the spectacular Dadès Gorges, deep canyons carved into red rock with stunning formations. Dinner and overnight stay in a traditional riad.
DAY 2
After breakfast, head towards the breathtaking Todra Gorges, towering rock walls that form one of Morocco’s most scenic canyons, popular with climbers and travelers. Continue to Erfoud, the “Fossil Capital,” famous for its rich deposits of prehistoric shells, ammonites, and fossils. In the afternoon, reach Merzouga, at the gateway to the Erg Chebbi dunes, with a brief stop at your hotel or riad. Before sunset, embark on a camel trek through the golden dunes to the Berber desert camp. Enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner under the stars, followed by live Berber music around the campfire. Overnight in a classic haima tent.
DAY 3
The day begins early to witness the magical sunrise over the dunes, a truly unforgettable experience. After breakfast at the camp, return by camel to Merzouga and head north. Travel through the scenic Ziz Valley, dotted with palm groves and ancient kasbahs, then cross the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop in Ifrane, often called the “Little Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine-style architecture and mountain setting at over 1,700 meters. A short break in Azrou allows you to see the Barbary macaques living freely in the cedar forests. Arrive in the late afternoon in Fès, one of Morocco’s oldest imperial cities, where the tour concludes.
